GOAL

GET – SET – GOAL

YOUR EXPECTATIONS?

  1. How many of you want to be successful?
  2. How many of you want to achieve your goals?
  3. How many of you want to be known by people around you?

FAILING TO PLAN   IS   PLANNING TO FAIL

 Goal: a long-term target

Think of it as a reward at the top of a ladder; you must climb the ladder before reaching the reward

  • Long-Term goals can be achieved over a long period of time.
  • Short-Term goals are smaller and can be fulfilled in the immediate future.
  • Action-Oriented goals are within your own power to be reached and od not depend on external factors or people.
  • Outcome-Based goals are not in your power to be reached because they depend on another person of factor.

HOW TO SET GOALS

What’s important to remember about setting goals in the correct F.R.A.M.E. of mind.

SET SMART GOALS

S = Specific

M = Measurable

A = Attainable

R = Relevant

T = Timely

 SPECIFIC

Goals are no place to be vague; ambiguous goals produce ambiguous results

Instead of saying: “I will lose weight and become more healthy” a more SPECIFIC goal would be: “I will lose 1 inch from my waist”

MEASURABLE

If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

Instead of saying: I want to read more a more MEASURABLE goal would be: I will read 3 novels before my birthday.

ATTAINABLE

A goal needs to stretch you slightly so you feel you can do it BUT it will need a real commitment from you.

Instead of saying: I will never watch TV a more ATTAINABLE goal woud be: Limit TV to one hour on working days.

RELEVANT

The goal needs to matter to you, and aligned with your value not just because everyone is doing it.

Instead of saying: I want to be successful a more RELEVANT goal would be: I want to get into the top 10 BBA college in India

TIMELY

Putting an end point on your goal gives you a clear target to work towards

Instead of saying: I will get Organized a more TIMELY goal would be: Within 1 week, I will clear out the pendning bills.

Different Goals in our Life

  • PHYSICAL GOALS: These are the goals that are related to your physical well being and health.
  • CAREER GOALS: Where do you want to be in five years from now, ten years from
  • RELATIONSHIPS & FAMILY GOALS: Relationships and your family are one of the biggest assets that you may have.
  • SOAIL GOALS: More often you success will be measured by what you do for thesociety rather than your personal achievements.
  • SELF DEVELOPMENT GOALS: You are like a fruit. As long as you are green you are growing. If you stop growing you ripen and fall to the ground.

Goals may be set for entertainment, learning new art or for taking up new hobbies.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A GOAL?

  • Connect your goal with your talents, values, and aspirations.
  • Your goal should represent an important accomplishment to you.
  • Choose a goal that you have the power to reach but requires effort.

ACTION PLAN

  • Write down your goals – SMART
  • Main moves – small steps – Timeline – Reward
  • Mention the hurdles you might face – Help? Procrastination? Motivation?
  • How will you deal with them?
  • Start DOING!
