Amazing Trees In The World

Mobile Phones Should Not Be Allowed in Schools

I strongly believe that mobile phones should not be allowed in schools. While mobile phones have become essential in our lives, they are a major hindrance to effective learning and can disrupt the educational environment. Allowing them in schools only leads to distractions, academic dishonesty, and negative impacts on students’ mental health. Firstly, mobile phones are a constant source of distraction. I’ve seen how tempting it is for students to check social media or play games instead of paying attention in class. Even when students intend to use their phones responsibly, notifications can easily break their concentration. This affects not only their own learning but also disrupts the entire classroom, making it harder for teachers to maintain focus and engagement. I believe students learn best when they are fully present and focused, and mobile phones are a significant barrier to that focus. Another reason mobile phones should be banned in schools is the potential for cheating. ...

Consider the Lilies: Seven Lessons From Wildflowers

The myriad wildflowers of the world are wonders of God’s creation. They are photogenic and can be thought-provoking. Why did Jesus tell us to consider them? The Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, giant redwood trees—these majestic wonders of nature are well-known for producing a  sense of awe . But does something have to be  big  to be wondrous? No. In the past few years, researchers have found that taking time to appreciate the  everyday beauty  of nature can also give life meaning. Joshua Hicks and Frank Martela, authors of a 2022 study, found that people who had a strong appreciation for the common instances of beauty in the world around us were more likely to feel that their own existence was valuable. Hicks and Martela gave this advice: “We should slow down, let life surprise us and embrace the significance in the everyday” ( ScientificAmerican.com ). Scientists and psychologists have only recently begun to understand this. But long ago, Jesus knew that paus...

Salwar kameez is Moghul

Salwar Kameez: The Mughal Legacy Woven into Modern Fashion The salwar kameez is more than just a popular garment worn in South Asia; it is a symbol of cultural heritage that has traversed centuries and is intricately linked to the Mughal era. With its roots deeply embedded in the history of the Indian subcontinent, the salwar kameez is a testimony to a rich and diverse cultural narrative. This blog post aims to explore the historical evolution, significance, and contemporary relevance of the salwar kameez, especially in relation to the Mughal dynasty. Historical Origins The salwar kameez, characterized by its relatively simple composition—a combination of a tunic (kameez) and loose-fitting trousers (salwar)—has its origins traced back to the Mughal period of the 16th and 17th centuries. During this time, the Mughal emperors ruled over a vast territory in South Asia, with a strong influence on art, culture, and fashion. The Mughal court was renowned for its extravagant displays of...

Advice to Youth - Mark Twain

Critical Analysis: How does Mark Twain use satire to challenge traditional advice given to youth? Provide examples from the text to support your analysis. Twain uses satire to mock the conventional wisdom typically given to young people by presenting seemingly sound advice that, upon closer examination, reveals its absurdity or hypocrisy. For example, he advises youth to "Always obey your parents, when they are present," which humorously implies that obedience is only necessary when parents are watching. This satirical approach challenges the idea of blind obedience and highlights the conditional nature of such advice. Evaluative Reasoning: Twain's advice about lying suggests it can be an art form if done correctly. Do you agree with his perspective? Evaluate the moral implications of his advice in both historical and contemporary contexts. Whether one agrees with Twain's perspective depends on personal beliefs about honesty. Twain humorously presents lying ...
